In the unfortunate event of a crime occurring at Morgan Marine we have a way of collecting evidence to help suss out exactly what happened. Crimes can be solved far more easily with additional evidence from a CCTV camera, helping place times, locations and, most importantly, suspects.
It is always a good idea to keep records of who are entering and leaving the premises ie; deliveries or visitors entering. By having the new CCTV we can view and keep a track of what is taking place every day.
At Morgan Marine we love supporting local business especially one’s like Sound & Vision. Sound & Vision have fitted our brand new CCTV cameras. Not only was they very professional but they were also great for explaining how they work & ultimately keeping Morgan Marine and its customers safe. Check out below the new cameras footage and also the Link for Sound and Vison.
Morgan Marine was left with no choice this week but to take decisive action to remove two sunken motor boats from its marina. The Company had found itself in a difficult position whereby these boats had begun to leak diesel into the watercourse. Once glorious machines, these large vessels had become a danger to our environment. Both boats had lost hull integrity meaning they would no longer float. Each passing of the tide exposed metal fuel tanks and engines systems to the highly corrosive nature of seawater. Anything metal was being quite literally eaten away.
We could have taken the easy approach and said “this is not our problem”. On a Sunday evening, just a few days ago, we received a call from the coastguard, the harbour office, and also visits from members of the public concerned about the leakage of diesel from one of these boats and the severe detrimental effect this could have on our various wildlife habitats – something that we all treasure and enjoy.
We had of course noticed the onset of leaking oils ourselves, and through the good work of our employees, we had taken action to stem the flow. In doing so, we confirmed that the situation was dire. We were quite literally staring down the barrel of a gun, and facing the prospect that the fuel containers in either vessel could rupture at any time. We took immediate action to drain the fuel, but we could do little about residue material – wet hull planks soaked in diesel and oil.
Instead of ignoring this issue and claiming innocence, we took the difficult decision of committing significant expenditure to the professional removal of the severe environmental risk. Our judgement that it was better to take this step than to face widespread pollution to the creek that would affect so much more wildlife than the birds that had traditionally made these boats their seasonal home. We hope that you can agree that this was the right decision to make, that the dire situation was suddenly thrust upon us, that we were left with no choice but to take decisive action, and that we did what was right for our environment. We did not ask for this situation, we did not plan for it, and we did not need it.
We care about our environment which is why we have acted in the responsible manner that we have, putting nature first ahead of cost consideration. We have plans to improve the local wildlife habitats, creating increased and sustainable environments for the nature that we all so much enjoy.
We take our hat off to the supportive approach of all of our customers who have been significantly inconvenienced through this urgent action, and we thank everyone for their support.

As part of our constant striving to improve quality of service and reduce workshop lead times for customers we have added another member of the team to the technical workforce. So we are pleased to announce the recruitment of skilled technician, Tom Davey, a Brightlingsea Local, who comes with plenty of expertise having been previously with highly regarded French Marine Motors – for 13 years in fact. Tom’s experience is wide ranging, from Mercury outboards to Volvo Penta, Yanmar, Vetus, Perkins and Mercruiser diesels, often in a mobile capacity on site at Marinas around the East Coast.
Tom is also highly skilled with both Scania and Volvo engines, from servicing to full installation, gained working on windfarm support vessels, as well as the rigging and servicing of new outboard engines, from Yamaha and Mercury.
Tom also accrued 11 years’ experience working on high powered RIB’s at Thames River Experience – 12 meter RIBs running twin Yanmar ZT370 drive units. He handled complete boat refits, repairs and breakdown cover.
As you can see, Tom’s excellent pedigree means he has hit the ground running at Morgan Marine and is already well into the swing of it. Feel free to say hello if you see him around the yard – he doesn’t bite!
Our customers have come to expect the best – and we always deliver. Call Morgan Marine for all your Workshop or Engineering requirements on: 01206 302008. Ask for Oli or Steve.
Fighting off stiff competition, Jeanneau’s outstanding Merry Fisher 895 Marlin has won the prestigious Motor Boat 2020 Award for best Wheelhouse & Cockpit Cruiser.
The finalists:
Botnia Targa 25.1 GT
Finnmaster Pilot 8 Cabin
Jeanneau Merry Fisher 895 Marlin
Jeanneau NC37
Jersey 36 Elanco
Rodman 1090 Evolution
The judges felt that the Merry Fisher 895 Marlin, the flagship of the line is the most complete and convincing platform ever to wear the Merry Fisher name – high praise indeed. Despite being under 30ft long the design team had clearly worked hard to ensure every inch of space was put to good use.
The main deck for example, has an enlarged walkway on the starboard side thanks to an asymmetric wheelhouse alignment, which links two separate living areas. The versatile cockpit has folding benches so it can seat up to six or be left clear for fishing or water sports.
The foredeck has comfortable wrap-around seating and a point to slot in a table.
As for accommodation, the 895 Marlin has a convertible dinette in the saloon and two cabins on the lower deck it’s possible to sleep six on board.
On the water, it proved to be a very safe, stable and predictable platform with a good turn of speed from its twin outboard engines.
Length overall – 8.83 m / 28’12”
Hull length – 7.98 m / 26’2″
Hull Beam – 2.99 m / 9’10”
Standard Draft – 0.62 m / 2′
Water capacity – 100 l / 26 US gal
Cabins – 2
CE Category – C10/B6-C8
We’re expecting strong demand for the 895 Marlin so to discuss availability please contact Oli, Graham, Ric or Steve in the Morgan Marine Sales Office: 01206 302008.
In 2022, the Merry Fisher Marlin range became the Merry Fisher Sport range. For further technical information and specifications click here: Merry Fisher 895 Sport
